Fort Wayne Teen Named 2nd Place National Winner in Fashion Competition

Malik Davis put his fashion skills to the test and emerged as a 2nd place national winner in The Art Institutes 2013 Passion for Fashion Scholarship Competition. Davis entered in the Fashion Design category and competed against high school students from the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

He earned a $5,000 tuition scholarship to study fashion at an Art Institutes school, and will pursue his education at The Art Institute of Indianapolis.

Malik Davis’ entry included sketches for a black and white evening gown. Featuring a mermaid silhouette, the gown has long sleeves and a high neckline made from black lace and a white skirt with black beading and lace details. For the national competition, his sketches were brought to life as a stunning evening gown.
